If you're reading this hurting — smiling on the outside, fighting a giant on the inside — pull up a chair, baby. This one's for you. And yes, we're going to laugh a little, because tears are real, but they don't get the last word. God does.
Let me tell you about David.
David didn't show up to the battlefield looking for a fight. David showed up delivering lunch. Sandwiches for his brothers. That's it. Errand boy energy. And while he's standing there with the food, here comes Goliath — nine feet tall, armor shining, mouth running, talking big trash to everybody.
Sound familiar? Your giant might not be nine feet tall. Your giant might be a bill. A diagnosis. A person who smiles in your face and secretly does NOT want you to win. A past that keeps trying to introduce you by your worst chapter.
Here's what I need you to hear: I'm David fighting a Goliath — and Goliath picked the wrong one.
Everybody counted David out. Count again.
Saul tried to put his armor on David. It didn't fit. It was too heavy, too big, and it wasn't his. Baby, stop trying to wear somebody else's armor. Stop trying to fight your battle looking like everybody else, posting like everybody else, living like everybody else. God didn't call you to be a copy. He called you to be YOU — and He already put the win inside the real you.
David picked up five smooth stones and a sling. Not a sword. Not an army. A sling and some stones and a God who had never lost a fight for him yet. The lion didn't take him. The bear didn't take him. And Goliath was not about to be the first.
"The battle is the LORD's." — 1 Samuel 17:47
Read that again. The battle is not yours to carry alone. Your job is to show up, pick up your stone, and trust the God who aims it.
They don't want you to win? Shine anyway.
I say this with love and a little laugh: some people are real comfortable when you're down. The minute you start rising — healing, building, glowing — they get quiet. They get funny-acting. They get "concerned."
Shine anyway.
David's own brother got salty with him right there on the battlefield. Right before the victory! So if the shade is coming from close to home, you're in Bible company. Don't let it stop your stone. Your shine is not bragging — your shine is a testimony. Your win tells the next hurting person: God can do it for me too.
Your five stones
1. Prayer. Not the pretty kind. The real kind. God already knows — tell Him anyway.
2. Your "no." Some giants only stay fed because we keep saying yes to what drains us.
3. Laughter. Joy is not denial. Joy is a weapon. Laugh in the giant's face on purpose.
4. Your people. The real ones. The ones clapping when you win.
5. The next small step. David ran TOWARD the battle. One step. Today. That's all.
If your giant has been loud, I built two doors for you
Door one — read this first: No Is A Full Sentence — my $9.99 guide for anybody whose giant talks through people who won't respect their boundaries. You don't owe a paragraph. You don't owe an explanation tour. No. Is. A. Full. Sentence. Get it here.
Door two — sit with me: That's why I opened The Listening Room by Miss Wenuluv. One hour. Just you and me. I listen — really listen — and I share the stories of what God brought me through, and we pray and open the Word together. I'm not a licensed therapist, baby, I'm a sister who has BEEN through it and came out with her joy in her hand. If you're fighting a giant and you just need somebody in your corner who believes God for you — come sit down. Book The Listening Room here.
Say this out loud before you go
"Giant, you picked the wrong one. I'm on the winning team, and we cannot lose — because the battle is the Lord's, and He has never lost one yet."
Now send this to somebody who's fighting a giant today. Don't just read it and keep it — pass the stone.
WEN U LUV — and God loves you more. 💛
